This Blood Purple Antioxidant Smoothie makes for a good and healthy Halloween drink!
I meant to post in on Halloween but since that didn't happen --- this makes a great immune-building, healthy smoothie especially for the fall when most people are getting ill. This smoothie is a good way to start the day.

It looks more purple in real life than in the photos

This smoothie is high in Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Vitamin K as well as Manganese, Magnesium, Potassium, Folate and Fiber as you can see below.
Here is the nutrient breakdown, not including bananas.

The deliciousness...

It's summertime which is the perfect time to cool off, stay hydrated, and keep the vitals lifted especially with climate change, heatwaves and trying to keep the electricity bill low. So, here's a smoothie that is perfect for the summer and wellness.
Ingredients used in this smoothie:
On a television-related talk-show note, my favorite comedian Wanda Skyes was recently on the Ellen Show as she is promoting her stand-up tour, which I hope to see when she comes to Atlanta. Anyway, I came across this video of the two in what I could only wish would become a new show called "White & Black." Basically, if this were an actual show, I would definitely watch it.
Personal Update: It's difficult to get a real job so I've been applying for jobs and swagbucking for the summer. It feels good to get back to blogging, so I will be updating past posts and publishing drafts. I've really been wanting to increase the quality of this site for a long time, and I'm finially starting to do so. There are a lot of recipes, films/television shows, and social topics that have been building up over this year that I have been wanting to discuss, and will.

It's hot, chill out with this smoothie |
With all of the sweet and tart flavors in this recipe, you won't even be able to taste the kale. The taste of baby kale is a bit sweeter and earthier rather than bitter when compared to the regular kale variety. Baby kale is also a lot softer which makes blending a lot easier.

This is could be considered as a sort of vegan "root beer ice cream float", but really it is a date-banana float that is even better. This ice cream float is super easy to make, very delicious, and very healthy!
INGREDIENTS
Date-o-rade
- Dates blended with water or other fruit juice
Ice Cream
- frozen bananas blended with a little bit of water
METHOD
- Blend dates with water until you have a creamy liquid consistency, pour in glass.
- Blend frozen bananas with a little bit of water or nut milk until it has a thick, ice cream resemblance
- Scoop the banana ice cream onto date-drink and enjoy!
It was the end of September when I first tasted a passion fruit (and made this smoothie I meant to post much earlier, back when passion fruits were still in season). The taste of passion fruit was something completely unexpected for me- it was this super strange mix of squishy-jelly-feeling blast of citrus and sour in this bright, exotic fruit. The taste was just too much for me but I had to eat it somehow, so my solution was a smoothie.
A passion fruit smoothie which would be great with a screening of Passion Play, a mixed-genre film that is also an unexpectedly and unconventionally nice mixture of strange and beautiful.

Took this photo with phone, looks soo much better than photos with Flip camera |
Ingredients
- Passion Fruit
- Banana
- Strawberry
- Water
This was a pretty interesting smoothie for the fact that I wasn't used to the taste of passion fruit. But it does come with many benefits. Passion fruit is apparently great for skin and hair as it is rich in beta-carotenes and Vitamin A and is also a great source of Vitamin C. Although mostly known for its antioxidant properties, it is also rich in iron, Vitamin C, and of course fiber.

This colorful mixture of pineapples, strawberries, bananas, and blackberries creates a look that resembles "cotton candy", while tasting even better and sweeter. Healthy, filling, and deliciously sweet, like candy in a cup! Instead of succumbing to over-processed candy, you can easily make your own healthier and sweeter versions.
Ingredients
Frozen
- Pineapple chunks
- Strawberry
- Blackberries
- Bananas
*Not all of the fruits have to be frozen, but I find the bananas are best in smoothies when frozen.
This smoothie is high in Vitamin C, Vitamin B-6, Manganese, Magnesium, fiber, and Potassium.
And a pretty good source of Calcium, Iron, Selenium, Vitamin E, and Zinc-- among many other amino acids and naturally-occurring essential Omegas. No need for supplements when you can just blend fruits, and sometimes vegetables, into a nutrient-dense smoothie!
. . . See You Space Cowboy
The smoothie that packs a punch of nutrients!
INGREDIENTS
1 Cup Frozen Pineapple
1 Cup Mixed Berries (Raspberry, Strawberry, Blackberry, etc.)
1 Cup Water
A few Bananas (frozen will make a more ice cream consistency)
These amounts make only one small serving which is about a glass. To make more, just increase all ingredients.
This smoothie is loaded with antioxidants and nutrients; high in fiber, Manganese, Vitamin C, and Vitamin B6. The first time I tried this combination, I probably made this drink about 3 more times that day.
